Check for PHP + HTML syntax files under the download link (above). They may be a little dated but I recall seeing several there for you to try (and probably want to update a bit).

Update on Textpad 6 hanging

The Windows warning about not being able to find the README.txt file seems to be associated with Textpad overriding notepad.exe but failing to complete a successful installation. Wordpad and everything other than notepad or textpad can open and/or edit files. I don't know if this has to do with anyt...

Textpad 6 Hanging

Installed Textpad 6 overwriting previous Textpad 5 installation. Hangs upon program launch. The process is running in the background. Upon trying to open the README.txt file in the Textpad 6 program directory I get a warning that the file cannot be found. My previous Textpad 5 installation used synt...

Re: Textpad replacement kickstarter

Why not make an OPEN-SOURCE Textpad replacement. Like Ken said, there are open source alternatives. I've tried a few including Notepad++ recently. The actual editor part (using a component called Scintilla) had some solid features I liked including code folding and autocompletion that TP currently ...

The #1 killer TP feature I continue to enjoy is maintained indention wordwrap. I'm willing to forgo code folding and auto-complete features for it. It's a style thing but I have this tendency to write in long unbroken lines of code and maintain indent keeps it tidy and sane for me. It was esp. impor...

So an update around March. Cool. I check back now and again. TP is still the editor I'm most comfortable with and I too would gladly renew my license if/when required.

I agree. I haven't done it yet, but I'm always a little concerned about hitting "Exit" now when bringing TP back up.

I noticed the same thing. I pulled up the Tools toolbar and then dragged the tools I wanted off of that onto my custom toolbar. Little inconvenient but the icons can be customized now so it's one hoop I'm willing to jump through while things are being ironed out.

Re: config pref

config preferences loads fine here. About 1/2 second if that. TP 5.02 W2000, SP4, 2ghz, 512 ram, pent 4. Same here. First few times were slow but after setting all the directories and running Textpad a few times (for whatever reason) the prefs open instantly again. Nice to see that I can edit the t...

Correction. That's the cascading windows button I was mistakenly referring to as the tile window button. I agree with your assessment. Sorry to get anyone's hopes up.

I just noticed the tile windows button is below the standard window minimize, maximize and close buttons in the upper right corner. It appears to work with tabs on.

I just noticed that if you right click on the buttons in customize mode that there are options to change or directly edit the look of them. Be nice to change the look of the tool icons.

Textpad 5 Toolbars Not Customizable

I can click and drag the command buttons but Textpad isn't allowing me to drop them onto the toolbar ... even with buttons already on the toolbar in question. They just vanish on click up and the toolbar must be reset to get them back.

I'm running Textpad 5 on Windows 2000.
