Update on Textpad 6 hanging
The Windows warning about not being able to find the README.txt file seems to be associated with Textpad overriding notepad.exe but failing to complete a successful installation. Wordpad and everything other than notepad or textpad can open and/or edit files.

Textpad 6 Hanging
Installed Textpad 6 overwriting previous Textpad 5 installation. Hangs upon program launch. The process is running in the background.
Upon trying to open the README.txt file in the Textpad 6 program directory I get a warning that the file cannot be found.

Why not make an OPEN-SOURCE Textpad replacement.

config preferences loads fine here. About 1/2 second if that. TP 5.02
W2000, SP4, 2ghz, 512 ram, pent 4.
Same here. First few times were slow but after setting all the directories and running Textpad a few times (for whatever reason) the prefs open instantly again.

Textpad 5 Toolbars Not Customizable
I can click and drag the command buttons but Textpad isn't allowing me to drop them onto the toolbar ... even with buttons already on the toolbar in question. They just vanish on click up and the toolbar must be reset to get them back.
I'm running Textpad 5 on Windows 2000.

There are the usual quirks that seem to accompany a new release and those will probably be resolved fairly quickly as they had been for TP 4. I think this release is for the devs to gauge how the basic app is working under a greater variety of operating environments before they move forward with any ...
