Duh!

It finally occurred to me to look in the Help section... and there was the answer I needed:-

Place the cursor where you want to add the ANSI character, open the Clip Library and DOUBLE click on the desired ANSI character.

So simple!

Hi, If I open a .txt file in TextPad 8.4.0 and then open the ANSI Characters, the latter appears over the text. So that if I want to add one of the ANSI characters to the text, I cannot. This was not the case in TextPad 4.7 which I used before upgrading to 8.4.0. Is there some way to prevent this ...

I've finally managed to get my old macros to work in v.7.4 by moving them to the correct folder.

I have now downloaded and installed TextPad 7-64 bit and, of course, it works perfectly!

My original copy of TextPad was v. 4.0.7.3 which is dated 2004 and being a 32-bit version was not working properly under Windows 64-bit.

TextPad is installed in "C:\Program Files (x86)\TextPad 4\TextPad.exe". There is no "%AppData%\Helios\TextPad\7"... Yes. In spite of clicking 'Apply', then 'OK'.

What is worse is that NO recent files appear on the File menu after closing and reopening TextPad.

I am finding that 'Number of recent files on File menu' setting is not sticking from one opening of TextPad to another. In fact, NO recent files are appearing at all!

Is there some way of correcting this?

Hi Ben, Well, I've been using Process Explorer to search for processes other than TextPad that have handles on the files I have open in TextPad. The only process having a handle on these files is "System". So I tried using the program to search for handles on the folder containing the above files ...
