TP 9.1 hangs with network shares after upgrade from 8.15
Just upgraded from TP 8.15.1 to 9.1.. Love the updated feel.. But now getting very long hangs (several minutes)when doing File Open while on a network share.. Is this a known issue? Any fix coming? Will likely have to downgrade in the meantime as I'm having to kill TP (and open file via command line) as a workaround.
Thanks,
Brian
Thanks,
Brian

Have you tried using the standard file open and save as dialog boxes? There's an option on Configure/Preferences/File to select that.

That sounds promising. But I'm not seeing that option:
That's embarrassing. I'm on 9.0.1, not 9.1.0.. Will try to upgrade.

Hello,
I have the same issue, With "Use the standard file open dialog box" active, the open dialog spends a few milli second instead of 10-20 seconds.
But it's not the only issue I have, opening a small file is sometimes as slow, even using "Quick Open File" dialog.
I have freeze for seconds too, switching to a local file.
Note that:
- "Keep files locked while editing them" is disable
- "Open locked files read-only" is disable.
- "Enable .editorconfig" is disable.
- Other editors I'm using have not problem at all (Notepad++, VSC) but I can't live (my professional part ) without my favorite Textpad

Are you running 9.2.3? What kind of network filesystem are your files on?
Re: TP 9.1 hangs with network shares after upgrade from 8.15
The latest 9.2.3 with Windows 11 professional, up-to-date except KB5027303.
It's Samba from Ubuntu 20.04 LTS up-to-date too.
The local files are all in OneDrive.

Thanks, I'll try to replicate that. However, OneDrive files are not local. Microsoft hosts them in its Azure cloud.
Re: TP 9.1 hangs with network shares after upgrade from 8.15
Does it make any difference if you set Ignore when files are modified by another process, on Configure » Preferences » File?
Re: TP 9.1 hangs with network shares after upgrade from 8.15
Annoying but I set it to test.
Re: TP 9.1 hangs with network shares after upgrade from 8.15
By "annoying" do you mean it's faster, slower or the same?
Re: TP 9.1 hangs with network shares after upgrade from 8.15
Annoying -> I'm using that feature really often, like switching git branch, editing with another editor...
Since the beginning of the day I got no issue.

Sorry to persist with this, but I'm trying to establish why you're getting hangs with network shares. Can I can discount the checks for files being modified by another process as the cause?
Re: TP 9.1 hangs with network shares after upgrade from 8.15
Hello,
Without checking for modified files, no issue for two full day of Textpad usage.
PS I will not be able to answer for a week.
Thank you

Please install the new version 9.3.0 and try it with checks enabled for files modified by external processes.
