McAfee incompatibility

Post by Huxley »

I've found TextPad (6.2.2) to operate extremely slowly even with small .txt files. Traced the issue to McAfee's 'real-time' scanning. When turned off TP works just fine. Unfortunately, McAfee will not allow items in the Program folders to be added to its exclusion list. I may need to switch to a different Anti-virus.

Anyone find a work around for this?

I run McAfee and TextPad at work. I do not see this issue. Maybe it's an issue that's version-specific (mine McAfee is 4.6.0.3122).

Thanks for your reply ... my McAfee AV is version 15 ... and Security Center 11, but yours probably a version of McAfee for the enterprise.

Anyway ... uninstalled McAfee Security Center and installed MSFT Sec Essentials. Not my preferred AV/Malware tool but free and gets very good reviews. TextPad working well!
