Windows Explorer Context Menu: Open

Post by eVoid »

I did use textpad 4.0 some time back now, between 1998 and 2003 and thought I would give 5.2 a go. I find though, that the Open context menu in windows for Textpad 5.2 does not function in Windows XP Home.

I go to windows explorer, and select one or more files to open, and Textpad opens, but the file does not, if I use send to textpad, this works fine.

It sounds as if you just need to be patient as you get familiar with TextPad again.

Set aside some time one day to browse through Configure -> Preferences... You'll likely make some happy discoveries. . . .
I came in on 4.5 in 2001, moved to 4.7.2 in 2004, moved to 4.7.3 in 2007, moved to 5.4 in 2010, and am excited about 2013. I've said it many times before, and I'll say it many times again: "I love this program."

This sounds very much like the problem here:-

Whilst a show-stopping bug like this one is not likely to encourage you to return to TextPad, there are many of us who think it is the best text editor going, so you should give it a chance, in the main it does everything you want it to, and the way you would expect it to.
