I am having the same issue in Text 9.9.5 on Win 11, which led me to this older post. I did have autosave set to every 10 minutes and am following these good directions. On my Windows 10 PC, I forgot to enable autosave and lost about 1.5 hours of work when it crashed due to an unrecoverable error ...

Textpad is set to autosave every 5 minutes, but when a forced reboot crashed, it lost a lot of text. One report says it's in the user/appData/Roaming/Helos file, but it is not there.

Searching for any bat file finds none.

I have had to redo stuff many times, unable to find any autosave/backups ...

I have lots of other non MS programs and all had defaults working except .txt files etc which always had TextPad as default, but lost it and didn't list it as an option just notepad etc and store. But after rebooting the other option came back and able to select Textpad.

Solved but odd why Win 10 ...

Used texpad for decades as default for .txt files etc. But with the latest Win 10 update no longer can choose textpad when try and set defaults from the control panel. Only options are Notepad, Wordpad or choose from Store. Textpad not in store and have. Have to open Textpad and open from there ...

Hmmm the hidden answer in plain sight!

I'd rather just do whole document search once and not go round and round having to remember when its repeated but that is close.... now if could set it as a default option ....

When doing a search/Find (usually in .txt file) I often go to end of document may add things etc but want to do a search and don't realize not finding something since defaults to "down" and often forget to change to up.

Have recently started to get this error with only I tab open in Textpad, no other text program running etc. Win 7 64 bit no recent changes other than latest updates. Textpad 6.2.2 (32 bit)

Am manually removing the line ends (one paragraph symbol) and they range from column or space number 86-94 but varies.

Don't know why they are there to start with.

OOPs looking more closely at the coding in textpad it IS inserting line breaks in the text at the wrong points. I have no idea why all these line breaks with out word wrap and line breaks turned off in config/preferences/ word wrapping option

This has been driving me crazy for years.

Sometimes not on all documents done as .txt files in Textpad. when you paste into a discussion forum box like here.... I get very ragged text with words indented not at end of box but all over.... if this makes sense.
