Where is dump file saved?

TP crashed while saving a workspace and asked me to email the dump file to support. But it don't recall it saying the location.

I've searched my system drive for .dmp files but to no avail. I've searched Event Logs for textpad but nothing either.

Anyone know?

Autosave broken in 8.0.2

Just spotted that some of my files were missing recent updates, and my PC has had some stability issues recently (so I had relied on autosave). Checked that my autosave was set to backup every minute, but the files' time stamps were way out of date! Went back to 7.6.2 and files are autosaving as ...

Over 2.5 years on and this simple request that would make TP crash-proof (by allowing a multiple file editing session to be continued pre-crash) still hasn't made it into the app. :-(

Would it really be so hard given that autosave exists for files?

Reload last workspace at startup doesn't work

Hi I just discovered workspaces and it's pretty useful feature (although autosave workspaces would make it even better). However if I check this option below, it doesn't seem to do anything, no matter if I load textpad by itself or a text file associated with textpad. I can save a workspace just ...

After a PC crash or power outage, all I want to do is quickly recover my previous working session. Currently I have to use my memory to recall which files I had open, so I'd welcome the ability for textpad to recover the workspace of the most recently open files. It provides the capability of ...

Corruption of all open files after sharing issue

Hi I've just experienced a nasty multiple file corruption (zeroing) episode with TP 5.4.2. I had multiple files open on my main PC and then subsequently opened (and edited) one of those files from a remote laptop. On my return to my main PC there were many dialogue boxes open with something like ...

£ key appears as #

Hi I'm sure there's a very simple explanation of this, but suddenly TP 5.3.1 has started to show # when I type £. Copy and paste of the pound character into a TP file works fine though. The Default encoding is set to ANSI and 'Create new files as' is set to PC. I've also noticed that the # key a ...

Migrating settings with Windows 7 "Easy Transfer"

Hi I just migrated PCs from Windows7/32 bit to Windows7/64 bit and used the built-in "Easy Transfer" program to migrate my applications' settings. TextPad was unfortunately one of those apps whose settings didn't transfer (despite preinstalling it on the new PC). Luckily TP help tells me about all ...

No audible alerts in v5

Since I upgraded TP to v5.0.3 I never get any more audible alerts e.g. when I close a file and it prompts me to save it.
I have the View options - Audible Alerts box ticked in Prefs and it used to work fine in TP4. Other apps' sound alerts are working OK.
Any ideas?

Tx Berend for the suggestion.

However unfortunately I don't want multiple files to open in a single instance of TP, since that way it's even harder to see from the Taskbar how many files I have open at once! Plus I'd be forced to switch between them inside of TP all the time.

How do I stop TP opening the same file multiple times?

Quite often I find myself opening the same text file multiple times by mistake. I put this mainly down to the taskbar TP icons saying "Textpad" and then the full path to the file which of course gets truncated so that only "TextPad- [D:\Data ..." is visible, rather than the file name - but I can't ...

Taskbar button displays too much info

(This was already logged in the General support forum a while back but I didn't see it listed as an RFE) The taskbar button displays too much info i.e. " Textpad - [D:\the-full-path\to\the\text-file.txt *] " and because of this typically you can only see " Textpad - [D:... " in the taskbar button ...
