Automated installation

Post by navillus »

The instructions in Automating the Installation Process (http://www.textpad.com/support/tips/index.html#install) seems to be for an older version of Textpad. Is there a way to install Textpad 5.2 silently including the licensing information?

We don't have any first hand experience of doing this, but the information below should help.

The first thing you need to do is obtain a copy of TextPad, and license it in the normal way. You can then configure the Preferences to suit your requirements. These configuration settings are stored in the Registry at the first location below. The license is stored at the second location on the users PC's.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Helios\TextPad 5

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Helios\TextPad 5\License

Information on how to transfer the Registry settings, is available from the TextPad Help menu as follows:

From the Help menu choose:

1. Help Topics
2. Contents
3. Plus sign next to "How to"
4. Plus sign next to "Customize settings"
5. Transferring between Pc's

The next thing you need to do, is extract the MSI Setup file as explained in the URL below, and then edit this to include the TextPad Registry settings.

For an alternative, please see the URL from our Forum:

I hope this helps.

I used the free AppDeploy Repackager to make a new install package with our multi-user key inside.

I use this new installer to install from our network using Active Directory Group Policy and it works well.
