Explorer tab stopped working in XP

Post by dragonzgold »

For some reason, the Explorer tab on my Textpad 5 stopped working. If I click on it, Textpad just hangs. I tried upgrading to version 5.2, but that didn't help. Everything was working fine yesterday, but when I turned my computer on today, I discovered this problem.

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Thanks!

Have tried uninstalling, cleaning up any textpad registry entries, and reinstalling, but problem persists.

Oh, well. Guess it's time to switch back to UltraEdit.

Please try renaming the file config.xml, which you will find at the following location, and then try starting up TextPad. Exit from TextPad before renaming the file.

C:\Documents and Settings\User name\Application Data\Helios\TextPad\5.0

I Hope this helps.

Textpad Hangs, can't move to other open applications

Post by peter5078 »

XP, running TextPad, can't switch or tab to other open applications. Just started recently with 4.7, upgraded to 5.3, renamed config file, problem persists.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Peter

Explorer tab stopped working

Post by Rob Clack »

When I try to switch away from Textpad to a different program, nothing happens. I have to minimise Textpad to see Firefox, for instance. This only started happening a few weeks ago. Today I upgraded to 5.3.1 but that had no effect. I've renamed the config file. Still no good.

Running ancient XP Home. Have not yet tried uninstalling Textpad entirely. Is that the answer? If not, what is?

Check whether
Configure - Preferences - View - Stay on Top of other windows
is checked - if so, uncheck it.
