Opening multiple files with the same name

On one machine a user is able to open multiple files with the same name:
text.txt, text.txt

Each text.txt has different content, and opens a new instance of textpad for easy viewing.

However, on another machine, Textpad 5.2 attempts to "reload" the file, and I cannot seem to find the setting that will allow me to open text.txt and text.txt in two tabs without "reloading" the file, which is really two different files with the same name.

Maybe this is a function of the file system?

If you choose Configure / Preferences / General / and check the option to "Allow multiple instances to run", you can open each file in a separate instance of TextPad.
