Creating custom toolbar buttons (e.g. Block Select Mode)

Close all Textpad instances
Open a new Textpad instance without files.
(this is necessary as each instance would overwrite settings when it is closed - for permanent configuration changes you should always do it this way).

Right-Click anywhere on a toolbar, choose "Customize"
In the dialog, select "Commands" tab.

In the left list, select the category you want (e.g. "Configure")
Drag the command you want (e.g. "Block Select Mode") onto the toolbar.
DO NOT YET CLOSE the customize dialog!
You now have a new button on the toolbar.

If the button doesn't have a default image, it is just text, then do the following:

Right-Click on that button, choose "Change Button Image".
Choose an image (one that comes closest to what you want as image for that button)
Instead of the text button, you now have an image button.

If the button image is not exactly what you want:
Right-Click on the image button, choose "Edit Button Image"
Edit the image till you like the result, then click "Ok"
You now have the image button with your own image.

Now close the customize dialog.
Close Textpad.

When you now restart Textpad, the button will still be there.

To remove a toolbar button:

Close all Textpad instances
Open a new Textpad instance without files.

Right-Click anywhere on a toolbar, choose "Customize"
Drag the unwanted button off the toolbar.

Now close the customize dialog.
Close Textpad.

When you now restart Textpad, the button will still be gone.
