Otherwise, many textpad sessions pile up in my taskbar as I open and close documents.
RELATED: When I double-click a doc in explorer, please open it in my existing textpad session.
Thanks! This editor is great.

Configure->Preferences->General: Uncheck "Allow multiple instances to run".

"allow multiple" doesn't work fm explorer (DDE pro
Thanks, s_reynisson, the preference to "allow multiple" ONLY works when I use "file:open" or when I drag a file into a textpad session.
If I double-click in explorer, I will always get a new instance of textpad.
Would the "DDE Messages" download in http://textpad.com/add-ons/ address this problem?

I can double-click away in explorer with "Allow multiple instances to run"
deselected and I always have one TP running. Before you uncheck it,
make sure you close all open documents in TP.
Don't know about the "DDE..." thingy.
Edit: What version of TP are you using?

You're right; it works fine.
I may have set the parameter the wrong way, or without closing the various documents, or perhaps I was simply confused. But I did what you said, and now it's working very nicely.
Thanks much for that! In gratitude, I googled up the attribution for your excellent sig: H. L. Mencken
