Search enhancement

Post by levonpg »

Hello,

I would like to have a scope to be added to the search dialog. What I am missing is the selected text for the search. This would be very handy in many situation, especially for marking all.

Thanks,
Levon.

Maybe I missed something here, but I think this is what you want to do.
Try this:

1. In the document, select the text to Search for.
2. From the Main Menu: Search, Find to open the Find window with the selected text in the "Find what" field.
3. Click back in the document. and press CTL-Home to go to top of document.
4. Back into the Find window, review options as necessary, and click on Mark All.
5. Close the Find window.

Hope this was helpful.................Will that do it for you?

Bob,

I want to be able to search a text and mark them only in a selected area. The Replace function has that capability, but not the Search. On multiple occasions I needed this functionality

Best Regards,
Levon.

OK, I understand better.

 I know it's a few steps but how about this as a workaround?

1. Highlight the desired area for changes, copy to clipboard and paste into a new temp document.
2. Do Search/Replace on temp document.
3. Select all of new document and copy to clipboard.
4. Highlight the original selected area again in the original document, and paste from clipboard.
5. Delete new temp document.
Hope this was helpful.............good luck,
Bob
