How important is it to you, to have this feature implemented into future versions of TextPad?

Important, even if the size/efficiency of TextPad increases/degrades

* disrupts the stacked tabs

Post by Web1X »

I like the * that is added to indicate that a file has been modified. However, the * disrupts the stacked tabs. Perhaps for the tabs, you could use something else, like underline or different font color so the positions of the tabs are not disturbed. Or provide space for the * even when not there.

When you come to think of it, the * is too small on the best of days... after long hours at the machine the star just looks like part of the decor, too much effort to focus on it when you can just clik the tab and see if the save icon is lighted..

If the idea of the star is to give a visual which files are saved when you have a line of tabs going then its not serving its purpose to fullest advantage, a change of font color would be much more effective....

And not forgetting the current tab in the foreground doesnt stand out like it should either.. there again its too much effort to figure which file is active, the current tab could use some color too, that 3d effect becomes part of the decor after long hours at the machine ...

This doesn't mean much to me, personally, but maybe a configurable character and font color/face would be good for you, if it weren't too hard to implement.
