Is there a way to view Unicode files without the "spooky" characters in textpad?
PS: I use 4.2.2
How can I view UNICODE files properly?

Not sure what you mean by spooky, but try this:
1. From the Configure menu, choose Preferences.
2. Click the + next to Document Classes.
3. Click the + next to the appropriate document class (e.g Text for *.txt files).
4. Select Font.
5, Choose a Font that can display the characters in the file.
6. Set the Script to match the characters in the file.
7. Click OK.
8. Open the Unicode file.

PS. If you're really using 4.2.2, please upgrade to 4.6.2. There's no additional charge, if you have already purchased a license.

Re: How can I view UNICODE files properly?
Unicode characters are coded on 2 bytes, unlike Windows text.
In Textpad, the first character appears as garbage (binary) while the second one looks correct. I suppose I can't fix this using a different font.
Script: in my drop down list box "script", I only have "western" to choose from. Should there be other choices?
Thanks
