I cannot compile anything because every time I try "§FileDir contains an invalid path" text appears. I can change the path from conf./pref./tools/compile java, but I don't know what to type into that box.

I'm confused: why would you want to change where the Intial Folder is located? Just leave it as:

$FileDir

More info is needed to debug this, like where the message comes from, (javac.exe or textpad itself?)

Do you have spaces in the path to your java files? TextPad has a known issue or two about enclosing paths in "quotes" so that you can have spaces in file/directory names.
