keyboard not responding

When I open a file in Textpad the keyboard is not responding. I can modify files that are stored on my local drive, but I cannot modify files (because the keyboard does not respond) on non-local files. (This was not a problem two days ago.) Has anyone else experienced this?

Check whether the files are marked as readonly in Textpad.
You can see that easily in the status bar, if the text "Read" is black.
