Sorry for such a newbie question. I want My Documents to be the default directory when I go to save or open files. The directories option under configure doesn't seem to do this although I set the Startup to this path for my working environment.
I also checked the FAQ but I didn't see it.

Under Configure->Preferences->General
select Working folder follows active document
then open or save a doc from/to "My Documents" then it will default to this directory until you open/save from/to a different document. I have a feeling this is an incomplete answer but may be enough for you.

Configure->Preferences->Folders .. select Startup then click the ... button and browse to your My Documents folder .. click OK then OK again. CLose Textpad the reopen and you should find the correct location selected.
