need help uninstalling textpad

Post by kim »

After uninstalling textpad and trying to reopen the same files with notepad, the files insist on looking for textpad and wont open. If I open them from within a new application and then save within that new application, they still want textpad to open again.
These are not being saved as text files but as .sco files (for Csound). As a result, none of my .sco files will render because they default to wordpad rather than notepad and wordpad it too fancy. Please help. I'm running Win98.

Try This:
Open any folder (not a file).
Open the 'View' Menu and go to 'Folder Options'.
Go to the 'File Types' tab in the 'Folder Options' dialog.
Scroll down until you find Text Files (with a TXT extention)
Highlight the Text Files Item and click on the 'Edit' Button (to the right)

Find the 'Actions' List in the 'Edit File Type' dialog
In that list, find 'Open', Highlight it, and click on the 'Edit' Button at the bottom.
In the new Dialog that opens, Click on the 'Browse' Button
In the File Dialog, Go To 'C:\Windows' Folder and find 'Notepad.exe'
Hilight it, and click OK.
In the Edit Box: 'Application Used to Perform Action' you should see something like 'C:\Windows\Notepad.exe'
If so, click OK.
Continue to click OK , on all the previously opend Dialog Boxes.

This should now make all Text Files (txt extention) open with Notepad.
