Preferences info location

Is there a specifice file that holds all the Preferences information that can be saved and reused when I have to reinstall the Operating System soon.

Why do I not have colors in my java document? You know, green for comments, red for brackets....etc....

I have reinstalled numerous time...........I even purchased TextPad!!!

Do you have a document class for .java?
Is syntax highlighting activated for this document class?
Is the syntax file for this document class correct?
Does the document class contain .java files?
is there any other document class defined for .java files?
...
