cntrl-tab configuration options?

I am using textpad 1.32a. I know, It's old, but I have not been able to get the new version to work the way I want it to.
Here is my delema...
In version 1.32a, if I open let's say 10 files so that I can make changes on each one (not global changes), as I make changes and save each file, I can hit cntrl-tab to go to the next file in the order that they were opened. Shift-cntrl-tab goes back to the previous file in the order that they were opened.
In the newer versions, once I save a file and hit cntrl-tab, it goes back to the last file that was saved. I can't just move on to the next file on the list with cntrl-tab like I can in 1.32a. How can I set it so that it simply goes on the the next file in the order that they were opened like in 1.32a? It is very difficult to keep track of which files I have changed when I cannot easily get to the next file on the list with a quick keystroke.
Does this make sense?
I would appreciate it if someone could help me resolve this issue.
