Errors Saving Over a LAN

When working on a file that is located on a remote drive over a LAN, saving the document with the disk icon (and choosing save from the menu) brings up the "Save As" dialog. (Somewhat irritating.)

The real problem is that about 30% of the time, after clicking "save" in the Save As dialog, a "File Cannot Be Found" type error comes up, and the file is unsaved. Then I gotta start the whole process over again to try and save.

This problem was not present in previous versions of TextPad I have used. Just 4.4.1.

Is there a fix and/or workaround for this? Or am I nutty?
