Every time I double click on a .txt file I get the message "Cannot find file <pathname> (or one of it's components)". The file opens in Textpad 4 and everything seems to work OK. This seems to only occur with .txt files, all other extentions (or at least the ones I have tried so far) do not get this message.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: Cannot find file (or one of it's components)
This is a problem for me as well -- I get this message not with TextPad, but with MS Word 2000 & Excel 2k. I think the problem is that it's taking too long for the application to come up -- too many initializations/virus checks/who knows. The OS interprets this delay as something not being available.
If your problem is the same, then investigate what applications besides TextPad are participating in the pre-processing of your text files -- for instance your virus checker, network latency, etc. TextPad is a much smaller program than Word -- I'm really surprised -- IF I'm correct about the cause.
I work around it by launching MS Word before I roam over my Explorer and double-click on filenames. You might try the same strategy with TextPad until you figure out what's taking it so long to launch.
Good luck,
Roy Beatty
