Just downloaded textpad 4.4; still no horizonal bar(s) on the top window(s). Textpads 3.x had horizonal bars on both the top and bottom windows. Remember Helios SS you are suppost to upgrade the software not downgrade it. It can not be too much to ask that a feature be put BACK (not added mind you) just put back!
"could you specify what you mean by top and bottom window and which horizontal bars you are talking about? "
You can split the doc window you know? And when you do you get a top and bottom window. Well in 3.x both windows had horizontal bars; when Helios SS went to 4.x they removed the horizonal bar from the top window.
If you didn't know that; you see your Vertical siding bar. See the arrow that is pointing up at the top of said bar. Move your mouse just above the arrow your pointer should change shape - now you can split the window. When you do that in 3.x both windows have horizontal bars; but not in 4.x
It is a great feature have when dealing with the Spot map and block definitions.
Again; It can not be too much to ask that a feature be put BACK (not added mind you) just put back!
Aaah, now I understand. The "horizontal bars" you are talking about are scroll-bars and with top/bottom window you mean split-view panes.
I do not use that feature very much, so I did not notice the change.
I found only the option to switch on/off the horizontal scrollbar, but this will show/hide the scrollbar in the bottom view (or the only view if view is not splitted).
If you split the doc window vertically, there is also only one vertical scrollbar - seems this behaviour is intended by helios...
I wonder if people with an attitude like that will have any influence as to whether a new feature or an old lost feature will be (re)implemented. Try stamping your feet.. that might do the trick too.
I can split my doc window either vertically or horizontally. And when split, each of the dual has the scrollbars. IOW both panes have scrollbar, either the horizontal scrollbar or the vertical scrollbar depending upon how the doc window was split.
That's a neat feature. Thanks, I just now learned about the feature.
If I loose one of the scrollbars by updating to 4.4 then just maybe I will not update to 4.4
"If I loose one of the scrollbars by updating to 4.4 then just maybe I will not update to 4.4
I vote to keep the feature too."
Sorry to inform you Alan C. but the feature is already lost. In order to see the original feature you have to download a 3.x Textpad. In 3.x you can NOT split the windows/view in four, only in two. But (and this is the important part) both views have independent _horizonal_ scrollbars and vertical scrollbars.
YOU can gradeup you will loose nothing.
If you like the feature as it is in 4.x You will really like it in 3.x , download 3.2 from this site and split the view to see the original feature.
>But (and this is the important part) both views have independent _horizonal_ scrollbars and vertical scrollbars.
By "both" if what you mean is two windows then my version 4.2.2 is exactly like your quoted line above; I have independent _horizonal_ scrollbars and vertical scrollbars on each of the two windows.
If i have only one window then use the mouse to drag a slider which splits that one window which is now into two windows, all with which to view the same document then both of those two windows do have the scrollbars.
Probably (maybe) I see what you are talking about now.
One window has two scrollbars. Two windows have total of three scrollbars, not four scrollbars.
Probably it's not a problem for me. I can split horizontally and it does have independent scrollbars for vertical scrolling of the split windows. Or if I must split vertically then I noticed that yes for both windows is only the one scrollbar for vertical scrolling. But (regard vertical split) I also observed that I can opt to have as well as vary the unequalness of the size (width) of (the 2) windows which (when word wrapped) might do for me.
