Column numbers

Is there any way to have TextPad display column numbers in a fixed, non-scrolling region? Something like how Excel shows row and column numbers would help, or the way Xedit (former mainframer here) had a command to allow you do display column numbers above any line of text.

You already have the line and column numbers available in the status bar, but this seems to be fixed at the bottom of the window, if displayed at all.

It would be nice to be able to undock the status bar, I often find it pain to get at it when I have the taskbar set to auto-hide.
I would also like to be able to float undocked toolbars (and an undocked statur bar)above a fullscreen window.

If Mitch is a Mainframer, like myself, then I am sure what he has is mind is a type of Ruler, not a single Line Nbr and a single Column Nbr where the cursor currently is at.

Something like this across the top or at any line I key the Macro any at:
1 2 3 4 5
1----|----0----|----0----|----0----|----0----|----0, etc.

I too would greatly appreciate something like that.

Any one have any suggestions.

Well, the row numbers are possible with View -> Line Numbers. You should email a suggestion to Helios to add a View -> Column Numbers.
