I click Find
I enter the search string in the Find What box
I click Find Next.

How can I change the color of the line the search string is found on?

Sorry, I misread your query. The method is the same as in the topic I linked, except that you select "Current Line". Change it for the Default document class, if you want it to apply to all document classes. It's easy enough to experiment with yourself.
