'find' form missing

Post by lv44lv »

when i hit ctrl-f or click the find icon, the focus shifts but the find form does not appear. i suspect it is opening off screen somewhere. this started happening after a windows update.

As always ...

Press Alt+Space, click on "move" in the appearing menu, press one of the 4 arrow keys.

Now the missing window is attached to the mouse pointer.

Move to where you want to have the window and click.

(this is standard windows behaviour)

It cannot, since CTRL+F only finds the next occurance (or bring up a "not found" dialog). If you want the search dialog then press F5.

However, in both cases the ALT+SPACE should still work to get a window's system menu - if Windows gives you a sound then please assure you're not doing something wrong (i.e. pressing ALTGR+SPACE or only pressing SPACE...)

that depends on settings (Configure -> Preferences -> Editor -> Keystroke Compatibility). If set to "Microsoft Applications", Ctrl-F will open the Find dialog (or, if a custom binding has been done ...)
