When I compare files, the difference shows as LIGHT GREY background and WHITE font!
Hence, it is impossible to see the "different text" because of the colors.
Is there any way to change that color combination, so as to make it visible?

10 days ago a similar topic was posted: find function - how to change highlighting colour? and even if you, as a long-term user, still haven't browsed thru all of TextPad's settings it should have given you an idea to where to look at.
More precisely: Configure > Preferences > Document Classes > Compare Files > Colors
