Community forum software does not work properly (next page)

Post by pbaumann »

If you are searching, for example

Code: Select all

sort AND order
then you have hits (in my example 75) and several pages as results. In my example there are 2 pages and if you want to access it by klicking "next" or by "2" you get:

Code: Select all

No topics or posts met your search criteria

Helios are hosting this on a 13-year-old version of phpBB, so there's not much one can do about these sorts of problems unless they upgrade the forum software, which isn't going to happen.

That's bad news for me. I think there is valuable information in the forum but one cannot acess it and use it. Also search via google does not work.

Google works OK for me. This search delivers just four hits:

sort order site:https://www.textpad.com

There's a workaround that won't suit your needs so much, but you'll gain access to every post: just call

Code: Select all

https://forums.textpad.com/search.php?search_keywords=sort+AND+order&start=70
and I hope you figure out how to change both parameters accordingly.

In your specific case (2 pages results) however it's enough to just change the sort order direction, so a search query gives you either "end" of results first.

Works

Thank you, that is a good approach for me. I've just tested it (sort order and starting point) successfully. GREAT!
