This happens from the Open Dialog in MS Word , but I can reproduce it from the Open Dialog for another application as well.
Go into MS Word
File
Open
Select a file I want to open in TextPad
Right click
Send to
TextPad
I get an error message:
Code: Select all
C:\Program Files (x86)\TextPad 7\TextPad.exe
The specified path does not exist.
Check the path, and then try again.
The error message is correct. I am on Win7 64 bit, TP 7.4 64 bit, and TP is installed at C:\Program Files\TextPad 7\TextPad.exe
I went to %AppData%\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo and replaced the Shortcut to TextPad, just in case. No change in behavior.
I searched the registry for the string "Program Files (x86)\\TextPad 7", but I found nothing.
(2[Bb]|[^2].|.[^Bb])
That is the question.

Still an issue in Windows 10 at current Windows service updates.
It seems to happen in 32-bit applications like Word in Office 365 and other NON-windows applications.
If I find a work around I will let you know.

The workaround would be to start TextPad and use "File > Open" there. Changing the path isn't difficult either: just copy it from the same dialog you use elsewhere (clicking into the path pane gives you editible text on top, which at the same time could you edit).
You guys may have a reason for doing it this way, but I would never fumble with an Open dialog when I could use a complete Explorer window.
