Can I NOT have multiple instance of Text Pad Running?

Hi,

I know that if I go to Text Pad and open a file from the menu, that I will have multiple tabs running on one instance of the programme - that is what I want.

But, if I just double click on a file, then Text Pad opens a new instance of the programme. So, if I do this a number of times, I have multiple instance of the programme open.

Is there any way of forcing TextPad to just open multiple tabs, and not multiple im=nstance of the programme when I double-click files to open them that way?

I already have my preference set to not run multiple instances, but still get multiple instances.

Thanks,

Paul

Just wondering if anyone knows the answer to this?

I just want TextPad to open files in new tabs within the same instance of the programme when I double click a TextPad associated file.

Thanks,

Rather than double-clicking the new file, I just drag it to the already open textpad file; textpad then opens the new file in a new tab.

Thanks nvj1662, I'll try that.

I hope I can remember though, I automatically just double click on files to open them.

Just found another way of doing it...

TextPad has put a command in my file context menu when I installed it. So, if I right click on a file, then choose Textad from the context menu, the files will keep opening up in the same instance of the programme.

I mention this in case someone is reading this thread to be able to do this too.

Maybe the settings that I have in my preferences about unticking the "Allow multiple instances To Run" makes a difference? (see the image in first post in this thread)

Have a look and see if you have that ticked on unticked in your preferences.

You are quite correct, I have that option selected. When I deselect it, TextPad behaves as you described.
