Problem selecting character(s)

With the "Use POSIX regular expression syntax" button ticked and with BLOCK SELECT MODE ticked:
I select ONE character
I click SELECT and GO TO
I tick LINE
I type +999999 in the box
I tick EXTEND SELECTION
I click GO TO
Instead of ONE character being highlighted, why are MULTIPLE characters being highlighted?
(I'm using TEXTPAD 5.3.1)

You've asked this question many times before:

here. I don't think anybody else has come across this problem or been able to reproduce it.

If no one else is having this problem, I must be doing something wrong.
What is the correct procedure to limit the selection to one character?

I can't think of a better way than what you're currently doing. It should work, and does for me. I just don't know why it doesn't work for you, sorry.

Thanks.
I'll see if other responders have any suggestions.

To be clear, you are trying to select one column, 1 character per column?
Then is yes, your instructions work fine for me.
An alternative way to do the same would be to highlight one character in "block select" mode and do SHFT + CTRL + END (using microsoft compatibility for keystrokes).
If you are getting all charaters from the character you select to the end then you are either not in "block" mode or the file format is such that the editor thinks it has only selected one column.
Not answer, but as Ak47wong says "it works for me".
