Open with TextPad in Windows7 doesnt work.

Hi, i tried to search the forum, but i couldnt find what i need to know:
how to set TextPad as default program to open certain extensions?
When i try to do this in the Properties settings of a file, I browse for TextPad, but then it doesnt show it in the list of programs among which i should make a selection!
Is there a way to do the same thing by specifying the file extensions in TextPad? or someother way in the Control Panel maybe?

I use W7.

Configure/Preferences/Associated files
