Strange Tab Character in "Find what" field

Post by dmy »

Ever since I installed version 5.4, I noticed that the tab character in the "Find what" field displays as a block character (i.e. square). The tab displays just fine in the document itself.

How do I get the tab character to not display as a block character in the "Find what" field?

Thank you.

talking about the find dialog ?
\t represents a tab character
[X] Regular Expression must be checked

what do you mean with 'tab character' ?
if you hit the tab key the find what textfield is left

You can paste a tab character into the Find what field. I don't know of a way to change the font so that it is displayed as anything other than a box.

Thanks for the replies.

I wonder if it it version related. I have a laptop (Vista) with TextPad 5.2.0 installed. The "tab" character in the Find what: field showed up as a "tab" (i.e. spaces). I was hoping to attach a screen shot, but can't figure out how to.[/img]
