Error Dialog: "Encountered an improper argument."

Post by brookh »

I've been using textpad for a very long time (since v3?) and this is the first real bug I've encountered, and it's WEIRD!

I'm editing an ANSI, UNIX file in word wrap mode. The input carat is at the end of line 24 of 1710 at column 264. The immediately preceeding characters are "... .paramFile" (carat after 'e').

if the next character I enter is an apostrophe (single-quote), an error dialog pops up w/ title "TextPad" and the message "Encountered an improper argument." w/ an [OK] button. The carot is also moved back to ~151 and all subsequent text is corrupted/overwritten.

If I turn off word-wrap mode, or enter a different character (like a period), there is no error.

I can recreate the error even after restarting TextPad, and I have screenshots if anyone is interested.

P.S. Love the software, thanks for a great product!
