Hello,
I have a very strange problem.
When i run TextPad from a shell (not as admin), it runs perfectly.
When i try to run TextPad from the Vista surface like Windows Explorer or a link (as admin or not) it shows an access denied error message.
I have run ProcMon from SysInternals and compared the trace of successfully running TextPad and running TextPad with access denied.

I have licensed TextPad to be shure not to bothered about this issue.
Does anybody understand the difference between the two traces?
Thanks anyway for your help
TextPad 5.3.1 terminates with access denied on Vista Ultimat

It was Kaspersky Internet Security 10 causing the problems
I forgot to say that i a running Vista Ultimate 32 Bit
It was Kaspersky Internet Security 10 causing all kinds of problems:
1) TextPad 5 installation never run correctly although an error message was never displayed.
TextPad 5 was not inserted correctly in the windows explorer context menu items 'open with' and 'send to'
2) When i copied TextPad.exe version 5.3.1 to any other directory and run it for the first time, Kaspersky Internet Security 10 asked me if i wanted to allow program execution.
After i agreed, i always could run TextPad.exe from this directory without problems.
3) Kaspersky Internet Security 10 had assigned TextPad.exe version 5.3.1 from the installation directory with strong restrictions.
After manually changing the restrictions to 'fully trusted' TextPad.exe version 5.3.1 from the installation directory was running correctly
4) TextPad 4 Setup could not be run from hard disk, an access denied error occured, see traces below
5) TextPad 4 Setup could be run without problems from memory stick
I will post a bug request at kaspersky and give feedback as soon as i have an answer about this issue.
I am very surprised nobody else was bothered with this problem till now.

Switch off Kaspersky Internet Security 10 for installation
I forgot to say that i had to completey switch off Kaspersky Internet Security 10 to achieve a correct installation of TextPad version 5.3.1.
Afterwards TextPad 5 was inserted correctly in the windows explorer context menu items 'open with' and 'send to'.
