Using custom default colors for document classes?

I changed the colors for the "Default" document class. I'd like this set of colors to be applied to all existing document classes (e.g. Text, HTML). But when I click "Set Defaults" under the respective Colors section, it make no difference (i.e. it remains at "factory" defaults).

How can I set the Text and other document classes to use the color settings under the Default document class?

When making configuration changes I find it best to follow these steps, especially for any changes in Classes:

1. Close all other copies of TextPad.
2. Close all open documents, INCLUDING THE DEFAULT NEW BLANK DOCUMENT.
3. Make the changes you want: Configure/Preferences/......
4. Apply and OK your way out the configurations.
5. Close TextPad.
6. Open TextPad again, and your changes should be good.

From my quick test I think Set Defaults restores the application defaults back to the 'out of the box' settings rather than to whatever you have set as the default document class colours.

If you're comfortable¹ with editing in the registry you can copy the settings over by copying the data from:

Code: Select all

\Software\Helios\TextPad 5\Document Classes\Default\Colors

and then pasting it into the same key for the other classes.
