Greetings,
Whenever I double click on a .txt file to read it in TextPad 4.5, TextPad opens the main program, but the document (no daughter window) does not open. In other words, I get a blank background (grey) without the document opening. To open an existing .txt file I have to first open a new document and then double click the .txt file to open it. For some reason I must have a blank document open before I can read an existing one. There probably is a switch in the options menu, but I can not locate it.
Any suggestions is appreciated.
thx

Problems opening files with textpad by double clicking them
After importing TextPad-RegistrySettings from an other computer I couldn't open known file-types with TextPad by double clicking them anymore. The context menu showed "open with ..." - like it does for unknown filetypes. I repeated the procedure including "Always use this program to open this file" but still the same problem. I can open the file by "send to" - but if I double click the file, there's a message: "can't find program.exe" (in a box proposing to search myself, starting in the TextPad-directory - where I find textpad.exe). I deinstalled TextPad, booted, deleted all registry-entries für Helios/Textpad, installed again - same problem. I tried to install "Txplink 2000" for fake "TextPad instead of notpad" - but notepad was backed up immediately. The behaviour is the same with 4.5/4.6. I'm working with Win2000 professional.
How to say the system to use textpad.exe (without deinstalling Win2000)???
