Idea: Document Selector Window: Sorting of Documents

Hi
it would be great to have a new option in the 'Document Selector Window'
which allows for sorting of the filenames by
- directory (path)
- extension (file-type)
- date created
- date changed
- size
- ... ?
generally spoken: all possible file-properties
I'm not a specialist in operating systems but I guess it depends on the OS which file-properties are there else.
In MSWindows2000 I can find also properties like: author, category,....

this could be accessed via a new entrance in the context menu in the 'document selector window'
like:
sort documents >
ascending by >
- name
- type
- path
- ..
descending by >
- name
- type
- path
- ..

some kind of indicator which one is chosen (status line) would be nice
