First I just want to say that TextPad seems to be the ultimate text editor, I am exploring its possibilities right now in this shareware version.
To the questions:
Is it possible to define bold and italic fonts when using syntax highlighting? In Delphi, italic is used for comments and bold for reserverd words - Very useful.
I also would like the possibility to see the output from a tool to be redirected to a dockable "message" window, much like any developer IDE.

Nope. It's not.
But the Helios team knows (at least knew...) that users like to see this feature in TextPad. I know because I sent this wish to them (quite) some time ago.
