i just recently switched from ultraedit (which i used quite a while) to textpad, vecause someone recommended me textpad and it just looks "cleaner" so i switched.
anyway when i open simple text files from a network share it _sometimes_ (2 out of 5) takes a while (up to 10 seconds) until textpad displays them.
i had the exact problem with ultraedit, but in the FAQ it said that ultraedit might be looking for a network printer (which indeed exists here) and it takes a while for ultraedit to timeout when the printer is not there. i added a line in the ultraedit.ini which disabled this lookup, and that fixed the problem for good.
i wonder if sth. similar is going on with textpad.
