running programs from textpad

Post by jirka »

I was wondering whether it's possible to run programs directly from textpad. I know that one can add a new program to tools, make an icon and then just click on it. This is fine but the problem is that once i try to run a program for the second time, it opens a new copy of an application (such as matlab or gauss). this is not very convenient since one has to close the previous copies manually. i'd like to know if it's possible to run a program several times without opening several copies of the application?

thanks a lot!

It depends on the application.
Some like TextPad have a commandline option to prevent multiple
instances of the program running.
The best thing to do is to search the manual/online help.
