I've got in narrowed down to three! Heh. Any thoughts from anyone who has use these three? I'm guessing most people here chose textpad over editplus 2 and notetab pro. Anyone care to share their reasons or thoughts?

I have tried textpad and editplus 2. The first reason I choose textpad 2 is it has a file comparison function. The second reason is, as editplus claimed, it was originally designed for HTML.

Thanks John. The main reason I want a text editor is actually for html, so your comments lead me to believe editplus may be the correct choice.

I do a ton of HTML as well (in addition to ASCII, Java, Oracle SQL and JavaScript), and TextPad is where it's at!
I created a comprehensive set of macros (http://www.jeffyjeffy.com/code/textpad/ ... index.html) over the past five years that make it a breeze. You'll also find a couple clipbooks in the download that are critical to my HTML development.
Other macros and other things can be downloaded via the "Add-ons" link at the top of this page.
Try it. You might like it.
