Is there a way to have "MY FAVORITES" appear when clicking the 'OPEN' icon?

There are several paths from which I frequently pull files, and they are defined in my Favorites. I would like to make my 'FAVORITES' appear in the icon box along with 'HISTORY', 'DESKTOP', 'MY DOCUMENTS', 'MY COMPUTER', ...

Under Configure/Preferences/Folders/ change the startup folder to what you want

I tried your suggestion, and put: C:\Documents and Settings\thompsob\Favorites
as my default. Once I closed and opened Textpad, my Favorites directory did display; however, the Favorites path doesn't come back up on the subsequent 'open file' (it always assumes the previous path is the one to display).

What I really want is for Favorites to show up on the left. Any ideas?

That would be a Windows issue. I am pretty sure there is a way to get what you want, but I don't know what it is. I would suggest www.pcnineoneone.com they know all the tricks.

Hello,
under Win2k I can use TweakUI to configure what you like to see. Should work with other MS Win Versions as well.

Hi Betty.
I am enraged at this currently, as I just migrated a project from the projects folder prior to completion, but I still have a lot of current work in the projects folder.
I tried to use another editor to edit files in the other folder, but I hate it and want to be able to use TP all the time, without having to navigate through directories.
Without meaning to contradict the previous helper, it is more a default behavior than a 'Windows issue', I believe.
I have requested already in the past an additional dropDown which contains configurable paths.
A text editor as poor as TopStyle (great for style but terrible for text handling) has it, (bradsoft.com), it isn't difficult to add.
Last visited path overrides startup path whatever you do, and your favorites folder.
The best I could come up with is to reopen a file recently edited (still on File menu), which then puts you back into the desired directory. But this is irksome and needlessly time-consuming.
So please, let's all join and request this, as I am convinced that none of us works constantly in the same folder, probably not even in the same parent directory.
Hope this helps!
Andreas

Have you activated "Working folder follows active document" at Configure - Preferences - General?
If so, deactivate it.

Then set your startup folder at Configure - Preferences - Folders
