Horizontal and Vertical rulers?

Post by Eric Hansen »

I would love to see options for horizontal and vertical rulers. These would run the full width and full height of the screen and would follow the cursor.

Horizontal rulers are nice when I'm looking at columns of text that are separated by a long distance. The ruler makes it very easy to line them up across the screen instead of having to use the edge of a piece of paper held up to the monitor.

Vertical rulers are nice for indenting source code. I can quickly see when my END IF lines up with my IF.

I can sort of use the line and column numbers for this, but it would be much easier if it was visual. Just a thin line is all that is necessary.

I've seen some other editors that do this but can't remember which ones.

That's a fantastic suggestion! I've already requested horizontal rulers from Helios, but I never thought of vertical ones! What a great idea. Please let Helios know about this one by submitting it to them from their web site (http://www.textpad.com/support/index.html).
