Document doesn't reload upon restart

I thought that when properly setup under "preferences/general/reload last workspace at startup" the document I had open in the workspace would automatically reload when I close then reopen TextPad later. I have checked the appropriate election, but this is not happening; when I have a saved document open in the workspace and close down TextPad then re-open TextPad, I get a blank workspace. Is this normal behavior, or have I misunderstood what this option is supposed to do? Thanks.

You should save the workspace after having loaded the file to be edited.
Next time you start up TextPad it will load the last saved workspace automatically.
I tried this and it worked.

It asks me everytime I exit TextPad whether I want to save changes to the workspace. Can I configure it to "Save workspace automatically on exit" without prompting me first?

When you close a workspace using the Close command, you will be asked if you want to save any changes. If you open another workspace without closing the current one, it will be automatically saved and closed.
