Doesn't stay registered in XP
I've had no problems with TextPad ever before I got Windows XP. Now I have to keep inputting my registration information every time I run it. Anyone know how to fix this? Heeeeeeelp!

Re: Doesn't stay registered in XP
I have the same problem on Win2K. I can recreate this reliably:
1. Launch TextPad.
2. Enter licence code.
3. Close TextPad.
4. Launch TextPad. Everything OK. Close TextPad.
5. Launch TextPad. TextPad claims to be unregistered!
?!

Re: Doesn't stay registered in XP
YES!!! YOU SEE! No one else believes me. I thought I was going mad. So, now what do we do? I'm having other problems with XP too. I can't stand it. I'll be installing Win2K soon but apparently that's not going to solve my textpad problem. I really really just wish Win98SE would rule and Bill Gates would flush himself down the toilet and that my pc mfr would support my pc on 98. thanks for letting me vent.... t

Re: Doesn't stay registered in XP
Email the details to support. What you do to recreate the problem and your licence code.
Once they have this information they can try and recreate the problem themselves.

Re: Doesn't stay registered in XP
One of the solutions in four steps:
1. Install win2k
2. Install TextPad
3. Enter licence code
4. Upgrade win2k to winXP
!Problem solved!

Re: Doesn't stay registered in XP
I have the exact same problem after installing XP, must have something to do with the multiple user interface since the all have different registries textpad gets confused. That's my theory anyway.

Re: Doesn't stay registered in XP
Dude, watch the threads, apparently the same problem occurs reliably under win2K. I think the kelly thread may be part of the problem however I have turned off fast-task-switching and have eliminated all user accounts etc and still have problem. I still want to switch to win2k but no dinero right now for buying it so I STUCK with this stooooooopid cutesy mish-mash of xp-home that somehow manages to take the nt kernel, add the admittedly wonderful plug-n-pray abilities of 2000, and then turn it all to garbage after that - bad enough but crashes are accompanied now to music and butterflies....
Seems as though tech support should be watching this thread by now....?

Re: Doesn't stay registered in XP
i'd go with your theory kelly except that i've kinda eliminated the multi-user capabilites in order to test that very idea to no avail
i'm wondering if this happens under unix? doubtful, hunh?

Re: Doesn't stay registered in XP
I said earlier that it was happening on my XP machine. Now it is happening on my ME machine as well. I think it has to do with 4.5. I never had this problem with 4.4x.
