files locked after view in hex mode?

Is it just my new WinME system or does TextPad somehow end up leaving a file locked after viewing in hex mode? Yes, I know it is read-only while being viewed, but after exiting TextPad the file can not be renamed, edited by other programs, or deleted until the machine has been restarted. This happens with either "open binary" from the TextPad file menu or by doing "send to" from Explorer. Anyone have ideas on this? BTW, I'm using ver 3.2.5
