Why "press any key to continue"

Post by Bob Howlett »

I've just installed textpad 4.50, having used textpad 3.2.5 for quite a while.
I have added a user tool to run TeX on a file that I have opened in TextPad.
Since I sometimes want to give TeX extra input (e.g. when it pauses on
finding some TeX error in my file) I do not have the "capture output"
option selected. Because I want to read TeX's messages, I do not want
the DOS window to close immediately when TeX finishes running. So I don't
have the close on exit option selected. Now after TeX finishes running
TextPad -- or something -- causes the line "press any key to continue"
to appear in the DOS window. This means I have to press a key before
I can close the window. This did not happen with TextPad 3.2.5: after TeX
finished the DOS window remained nicely on the screen (provided I did not have
"close on exit" specified in the properties of command.com) and I could
read TeX's messages and then close the window with a single click.

I don't want to have to press a key and click instead of just clicking!

How can I eliminate the annoying "press any key to continue"?
