I am currently using textpad to write perl scripts. I am testing these scripts via a server on the local network. The problem is that after testing the script and running it, when i go to save it again it seems to think im trying to do a save as. It brings up the little box to type in the file name and then prompts to say that the file already exists. This is really annoying as i am doing a ctrl+s to save, all the time, out of habit. I disabled all the checking for when file has been used by another program. but it still does it. i've tried to find another way of stopping it, but cant. is there a way of stopping it. can anyone help?

Re: Really Annoying!!!!
I have the same problem, and was beginning to think I was going nuts.
When working on a file that is located on a remote drive over a LAN, saving the document with the disk icon (and choosing save from the menu) brings up the "Save As" dialog. (Somewhat irritating.)
The real problem is that about 30% of the time, after clicking "save" in the Save As dialog, a "File Cannot Be Found" type error comes up, and the file is unsaved. Then I gotta start the whole process over again to try and save.
This problem was not present in previous versions of TextPad I have used. Just 4.4.1.
I am also wondering if Bradley is working with files over a network, like I am. When I am saving files that are located on my desktop or C drive, this problem does not happen.
Is there a fix and/or workaround for this? Or am I nutty?
Thanks.
